Diamond Cut: The Proper Proportions

The cut of a diamond is the single most important factor in determining its beauty and value. Cut does not refer to the shape of the diamond but, rather, how the diamond is proportioned to maximize its light return. To make a diamond reflect and refract light properly, an expert cutter will fashion the cuts, or facets, to exacting proportions to return the most brilliance, fire and scintillation through the top of the diamond. While the most popular shape is called the round brilliant, there are many others, including marquise, oval, pear, emerald, radiant and princess. Whatever the shape, if it's a Josephs Diamond, you can rest assured that it's made the most critical cut of all.
